There can be many occasions when contractors undertake work in a school environment that has the potential to introduce hazards that would not normally be expected to be present in a school environment. When any contractor works in a school, there should be appropriate arrangements in place to ensure any hazards are identified and controlled so as to eliminate or reduce risks to as low as reasonably practicable. A Permit-to-Work system is an effective way of reinforcing control over contractors’ activities.
